Alavda had arrived on the island right when the sun set. As soon as her feet hit the ground, the vampires who were sent to greet her and get her settled bombarded her with attention even after she has settled in her room. If she has a nickel for every time they asked her for a preview of her singing...
She needed to step away from them and wind down from the journey to the island.
So she escaped the welcome wagon and wandered around part of the island until she came upon this darling meadow. It was so quiet and relaxing there she just knew this is where she could finally get some solitude and recharge.
Sitting down in front of a tree, Alavda closed her eyes. She breathed in the floral scent of the meadow, catching a whiff of the ocean since it was so close to everything on the island.
"Such a lovely evening," she breathed, her eyes still closed. Leaning back against the tree, she relaxed.
"Yes it is" A feminine voice replied form the other side of the tree...or rather, from in the tree. She was up above in the leaves somewhere, looking off in the other direction. "Then again we seem to get weather like this all the time...I wouldn't know though. I haven't been here very long." She continued with no prompting.

Alavda jumped when she heard a voice. For one absurd moment, she wondered if it was the tree that spoke to her. Maybe not so absurd. In the supernatural world, one never knew what could be possible.
She scooted away from the tree and looked up since that's where the voice appeared to be coming from. In the branches, she saw a girl with hair as dark as her own. She sniffed, but the smell of the meadow kept her from telling what this woman was. She opened her mouth to speak, but closed it as the strange girl continued to speak.
"I'm new to this island, too," she started, speaking slowly, "I'm sorry, but what's your name? Mine name is Alavda Noir."
The woman grinned, a half metal jaw flashing in the speckled evening light. "Oh! sorry! My name's Sam!" She said. She hopped down from the branches, landing in front of Alavda. "It's very nice to meet you, Alavda, or should I call you Ms. Noir?" She added, brushing bark chips off her torn jeans.
She proved to be quite tall as she stood there. She held out her hand to shake, keeping the other in her pocket. "This is how people greet nowadays, right?" She asked jokingly.

Alavda stepped back two paces when Sam landed in front of her. Now that she was closer, she saw that her jaw was made out of some sort of metal. She wondered what happened, but didn't ask since she didn't know her very well.
"Nice to meet you, Sam," she smiled, "Alavda is fine. No one calls me Ms Noir anymore." she wasn't sure what to make of Sam. She didn't see her as an immediate thread, but one never knew with the supernatural. When Sam offered her hand to Alavda, she took it and gave a quick shake, "Yes, I believe this is how people greet eachother now. Although when I was young, it was a bow or a curtsy," she wasn't sure why she said that last part. As a vampire, she tried not to clue non-vampires to her age, especially if she wants to feed off of them (which she didn't in this case).
"So how long have you been on the island? I only arrived a few hours ago. The local vampire clans invited me to sing at the island's upcoming festival. Will you be there?"
Sam lit up when the festival was mentioned. “I didn’t know there was going to be a festival.” She said happily. “You must be supremely talented if the clans wish for you to sing. They tend to be very picky …I think…” She paused. “I wouldn’t know though, I’ve only been here a few days...Three I think. It all blurs together, really.” She joked with a smile.
She glanced back up and the leaves for just a moment. “And I will definitely be at the festival. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” She finished, leaning against the tree thoughtfully. “Are you going to be staying long after the festival?” She asked, watching Alavda with shockingly contrasting eyes.

"They seem to think so," she answered, "I was an opera singer until a century ago. I'm told that it's a treat to hear me sing." she always felt a rush of pleasure at the complements. It pleased her that others would enjoy her singing.
She focused on Sam again. She wasn't sure what to make of her. Sam seemed to be perpetually confused about the present. Then Ala realizd that she was looking up at her. Why didn't she notice before how tall she was? "I know exactly what you mean. I get lots of dates confused. I'm told it's a common ailment of older vampires." then she smiled, "Good! I'm glad I'll see a familiar face at the festival. I'm afraid that I don't really know anyone here. I'm glad to have made a friend. Are you a permanent resident here?" She noticed Sam's eyes. Ala had thought the orange flakes in her otherwise green eyes were unique. The two colors of Sam's eye would have seemed odd on anyone else, but it seemed to work for her. "I'm not sure how long I'll be here after the festival. I get the impression that some of the older members of the vampire community would like me to stay for a few years, but we'll see."

A loud noise erupted in the distance...
It sounded like a small explosion at first. The sounds of birds mobbing away from the epicenter filled the calm sky as a plume of dust rose high above the tree line. A well trained nose could pick up the scent of wild pig, and the smell of burning.
Cyrus was about a half-mile away, having the time of his life making some money the old-fashioned way... With mercenary work.

Alavda turned sharply at the noise, "What was that?" she wondered, nearly shouting the question. Who would be setting off explosions here?
She turned her head to ask Sam something, but she looked as if she were having a silent argument with herself. She raised an eyebrow but didn't comment. People were allowed to have eccentricities. When she was asked to go check out the explosion, she nodded her head, "Yes, I'll go with you," she felt her fangs extend, the thrill of the hunt suddenly pulsing through her. She took a deep breath. This wasn't the time to hunt for food. After her fangs shortened to a more normal length, she ran toward the source of the noise.

"Whoa pig, whoa!! Whoa pig!! Whoooaaa pig!!!" The girls could hear a boy's voice ahead of them, along with the loud stomping and crashing of a large animal. Another loud crash rang out, much louder now that they had gotten closer. The sound could now be distinguished as a tree falling down, likely from a strong force pushing it over. There was a clearing ahead from which the dust was all originating, signaling that the commotion was up ahead.
Stepping into the clearing, the girls would see a small boy standing atop a raging razorback boar. It must've been at least 5 feet tall. He seemed to be trying desperately to stay mounted, using a staff between its tusks like a steering mechanism. "Awwwww, come on, whoa!!!!" The beast seemed more interested in being free of this small cretin, rather than listening to him. But for some reason, this seemed like the boy still had it under control.
It was quite a sight. Sam stopped a bit away to avoid getting trampled by the beast. “Hold up! There’s some kid riding a…razorback boar. Why is he riding a razorback boar?!” She questioned out loud, confused by the sight.
"people have weird definitions of fun. He's probably some freak thrill seeker." Wilhelm muttered.
"True that." Sam agreed silently. "But did it have to destroy the trees?"

Alavda came to a stop next to Sam and stared up at the...thing. She'd never seen the like of it before. She heard Sam call it a razorback boar. She supposed it didn't matter what it was called .What DID matter was that it was rampaging around the meadow, destroying it. She liked this meadow. It was very peaceful and she had hoped to pass many an evening in it.
She spied a boy riding the boar. He looked far too young to be doing anything so reckless, but she wasn't so good at discerning the age of the supernatural. They were a funny people that way. On one hand, she thought that maybe she should help him, but on the other...she had this nagging feeling that the beast was rampaging because of him...also, she wasn't sure how she would help in taking down the boar. So for now, she opted to watch.

"Dammit, when I say whoa...." He took a few steps forward onto the back of its neck. "I mean.... WHOA!!" He gave that final word with an axe kick to the beast's skull. This was strong enough to bring the beast to a dead stop, it's forward momentum flipping the pig and launching the boy off of it. He went into a flip and landed a few feet away, almost making a perfect landing, but he stumbled a bit on contact with the ground. The beast lay behind him, dead as mud.
"..... WOO!!" The boy shouted in excitement, not yet noticing the audience he had procured.
“…Good job!” Sam called, deciding it was ok to announce their arrival. “I think the boar is down for the count” She said, walking over with her hands in her hoodie pocket. She got a good look at him, getting the odd feeling that she had met him before.
That was ridiculous though, she had only arrived here three days ago. The smell of roast (Or burning) pig was hanging in the air rather unpleasantly, making her wrinkle her nose slightly.
