At a glance, someone might think that Bladen’s strange behavior is just eccentricity on his part. It doesn’t take long to realize that this is very untrue. Bladen is very off-kilter, some would call him a nutcase, or insane if they’re being polite. Generally, he doesn’t go out of his way to physically hurt people; he can even be rather nice on occasion…although he enjoys seeing how far he can push someone until they snap. Once, women might have called him charming, and he still can be if he wants to (he’s a vampire, it’s sort of in the blood right?), but usually he’d rather not. When angered or feeling a particularly strong emotion, a Celtic lilt can be heard in his voice. No one can really place which Celt he is, and he’s not about to tell.
Due to the death of his wife centuries earlier, Bladen drinks a lot (it’s also why he’s a bit nutso). Some say he’s an alcoholic, but others say that his drunken behavior is faked since he can go from seemingly drunk to completely sober in a blink. It isn’t unusual to see him in some form of inebriation. When he’s at least tipsy, he tends to be more friendly and more likely to let you go with only a few mental scratches. People should be on their guard when he is completely sober, for that’s when he plays with his prey with an almost catlike delight.

Backstory
Family:
He had two full blooded vampiric parents. Both are dead. He has a little sister, but he’s not sure what happened to her. He once had a wife named, Katherine, but she is also dead.
Bio:
Bladen was born in a small village in England in one of the Celtic countries. He still somewhat carries an accent still, but it is very faint unless he is experiencing a strong emotion. Bladen is not his original name. He changed his name somewhere down the years. If asked, he wouldn’t be able to tell you what his real name is since he doesn’t quite remember what it is…or so he says. His parents died when he was entering his 50s, his sister going missing around the same time. When he was a teenager, he met Thomas, who is his centuries long friend.
When he first discovered his gift, he was terrified. He didn’t catch on as to what was happening. Then he gained control of it. At first, he tried not to use it very much as there was no sport in using his gift on his victims. Soon, he started to take delight in watching them break and he now uses his gift without a thought.
In the 1400s he met a girl. Katherine. It didn’t take long for him to fall hard for her. He wanted her for himself, but she was already in love with another. He’s not one to let something as insignificant as another man get in his way. After he manipulated her lover into despising her, Bladen killed him before proceeding to manipulate Katherine into loving him. When he had done this, he took her as his wife. They were together two centuries before she died. He blames himself. He used his ability to manipulate her again and again. She was unhappy with him? A little tweak to make her happy. Weepy? Same thing. Decades of the constant manipulation was a strain on her sanity. One day she couldn’t take it anymore. After repeated attempts of taking her own life, first by trying to meet the sun, then by the blade of a dhamphir, she finally succeeded by stabbing herself in the heart. Guilt ridden, Blades sank into a state of depression and has become a little crazy himself as a result.
In the modern day, he finds himself visiting the island with his best friend to help him find his lost bride-to-be.

Strengths:
He is secretly a very calculating person. One would be surprised how much he can pick up about someone or a situation (one of the benefits of being seen as a crazy drunk). He’s mostly loyal to his friends.
Weaknesses:
Bladen is insane, so his behavior can be a tad unpredictable. Due to his state of mind, he might find it amusing to watch his companions fail at their task.
Special Ability:
He has the ability to sense and control people’s emotions. It works better if that person is already feeling a certain emotion even slightly, but if he concentrates, he can pull out a feeling that his victim isn’t experiencing to the surface.
How does your character handle the bloodlust
He feeds on whoever he comes upon first when he’s thirsty.
What side does your character take (Islanders or FASA):
He’s neutral only because he doesn’t care about the island politics. If he were to choose a side however, it would be the side that he finds more interesting.
