Lycans
Lycans have a sense of organisation that is similar to the Mafia. Each pack of lycans is like a mafia family. To determine what pack the lycan is from, one must look at the color of it's fur.
If the fur is white or yellow, then it is from the Galivladi pack in the north.
If the fur is brown, then it is from the Lohe pack in the southwest.
If the fur is dark grey to Black, then it is from the Blutmond pack in the Underground.
They are highly territorial and temperamental. They don't like to be accused of anything, especially if it involves their pack. Going along with their wolfish side, lycans tend to be protective or territorial of not only their pack, but things or people that they view as theirs. This could be a beloved possession to a loved one. Most lycans have control on this instinct, some might not feel it very strongly at all. If part of a pack, all lycans are subject to their Alpha (and sometimes the Beta, the second ranked of the pack when the Alpha is not present). Lone wolves are subject to themselves and themselves alone. They can move to join a pack or challenge an alpha for power (as can lower ranking members of the pack).
As for the change, they typically can change at will. For the bitten, changing at will may take a few years as they grow accustomed to their furry alter ego. As the full moon grows closer, keeping the change away becomes tougher an tougher. No lycan can resist the call of the moon when she is completely full.
Other than changing to a wolf, Lycans have a heightened sense of smell and sight, they are much stronger and faster than humans.
Hates: Vampires (sworn enemy) and fey.
Dislikes: Zombies and humans
Likes: Shapeshifters and elves
There are those who are lycans by birth, and there are the bitten.
Vampires
Vampires tend to have a noble, or better-than-thee air about them. They are very dignified, if not senile, individuals. They, like lycans, are territorial, but not to the degree that their wolfish foes are. Since they do not age, vampires typically do not spend more than a century in one place so as to avoid notice of the mortals around them.
They mostly drink human blood (especially loving the taste of a virgin's blood), but they absolutely love the sweet taste of fey blood as it not only tastes good, but it also gives the the ability to temporarily be out in direct sunlight. Lycan blood is EXTREMELY toxic to them.
For the changed, as they get older, it is not uncommon for them to get more and more senile. They are more likely to become senile if they are changed into a vampire as the once human brain has a difficult time adapting to the passing years. There are different vampire bloodlines that they call "clans." The clan leader is responsible for protecting and punishing his or her people. If one of their clan members gets into trouble, it is the leaders job to deal with that member as he or she sees fit. Since they're so old, vampires are huge on decorum. If there is a ceremony or festival that goes with a holiday or event, they are going to have it. "It's the done thing!" some of them might say.
Vampiric powers exist mostly to help the vampire in questions feed easier. Their natural powers include compulsion, they are much stronger and faster than humans, they do not age, some of the really old ones can fly (but that's so rare it's hardly worth mentioning). They cannot enter a home without being invited (this is where people live, so businesses and hotels are okay).
Hates: Lycans (sworn enemies) and elves
Dislikes: Mages, zombies, halflings
Likes: Fey and humans
There are pureblood vampires who have been vampires since birth. Then there are the changelings who are humans that were turned into vampires.
There are also a special race of half human, half vampires called Dhamphirs. Dhamphirs have all the abilities of vampires, but their bloodlust isn't as strong. They can also be out in the sun, however, the bright light is painful to their eyes, so they have to have some sort of protection for their eyes. They also can't spend a lot of time out in the sun. They specialize in the hunting of vampires.
Shapeshifters
Shapeshifters tend to be level-headed and are the kinder of the supernaturals. They can change into a creature in either the reptile or a mammal family. There are two exceptions to this which is the fish family and the bird family.
To find out what animal a shapeshifter will turn into, said shapeshifter has to discover what spirit animal they have. Many will know at the time of birth and if one isn't fortunate enough to know then, they can go to other shapeshifters who will guilde them in the right direction. Shapeshifters typically don't have the same spirit animal as there parent. Despite this, the species that the shapeshifer will change into is the same as their parents' (i.e. Mammal, reptile...). Their personality will be slightly influence by their animal so one should take precautions when getting to know a shapeshifter.
Hates: Fey and mermaids
Dislikes: Vampires and Zombies
Likes: Humans, Lycans and elves
For the fish family, would either have to have a mermaid be part of their family at some point, or have trained themselves for that kind of transformation for generations. Then there is the bird family where they either would have had to have a siren in their family or through the years their bones would have had to hollow out in order for them to fly effectively. Because of these situations, these two families are very rare to come by.
They cannot turn into anything that doesn't have a backbone. They shapeshift, not magically poof into anything and everything. Their spine cannot just poof away. They also cannot become a plant.
Their shapeshifting is left to animals, so they cannot make themselves look like another person without the help of a mage and even with their help, they will not completely be that person ex. eyes, voice. This also goes for those that want to change into a different species that can transform into an animal ex. Lycans, seeing as their scent will not be the same.
There are pureblooded shapeshifters, who can shift into their form with relative ease and for as long as they want.
Then there are halfbreed shapeshifters, who can still shift into their form easily, but only for a limited amount of time.
Anymore weakening of the blood lowers the amount of time the shapeshifter can stay in animal form to the point that it may not be able to shift at all.
Elves
Elves, like vampires, carry a "better-than-thee" attitude, although some dislike portraying this aspect about their race. They are not immortal, however, they live extremely long lives.
Light elves are generally very tall and tend to have lighter-colored hair. Though similar in height, dark elves tend to have darker skin and hair.. They are closely related to Fey in terms of blood. However, vampires don't typically target elves as prey.
Hates: Vampires and fey
Dislikes: Lycans and zombies
Likes: Humans, shapeshifters, mages
Elves are a cousin to the fey. There are dark elves that live in and run the black market in the underground. Dark elves are more cruel and less likely to talk to you since they'd rather kill you and take your items.. The light elves believe that they turned their gaze away from the goddess a long time ago, and as a result, their abilities taken away and their once bright features darkened to show their true identity.
Light elves are kind and benevolent, which live in the valley, believing in the arts and beauty in all. They feel they are touched by the goddess as they have been given abilities (grow items that were not originally there, heal the sick, move water, read minds, move items with their minds) nature driven items. Due to what seems to be magical abilities that surrounds them, it is believed that elves have humans the ability to practice magic, making them mages. In reality, some elves tried to teach humans their way of life, and humans themselves created magic to understand it.
They take the act of sexual intercourse seriously, and have severe punishments for sexual abuse and have been known to kill rapists. This is partially due to their religious beliefs which gives them an extremely high respect for women.
Fey
Fey are mischievous creatures and always are finding out a way to trap people into their web of favors. They can't lie, however, they are masters of bending the truth, so be careful while conversing with one. You may end up in a bargain that doesn't benefit you at all!
There are many kinds of fey, but the ones seen the most often are the ones with wings, but they are able to hide them with their glamour (fey magic!). They have odd-colored eyes, hair, and sometimes skin.
Each fey hails from a kingdom that represents each season, and each season determines their abilities.
Hates: Elves, mermaids, halflings, and humans
Dislikes: Shapeshifters and zombies
Likes: Vampires, lycans and mages.
There are two main fey courts that rule over four kingdoms, the Seelie and Unseelie courts. The Seelie Court consists of fey that typically don't go out of their way to be nasty to mortals. This court rules over the Summer and Spring kingdoms. The Unseelie Court consist of fey that love to make the lives of mortals difficult.
Their abilities depend on which seasonal kingdom they hail from. The Winter Court has Ice and water fey. the Summer Court has Flame fey. The Spring Court has earth fey, the Autumn Court has Dark and Wind fey.
Mermaids
They are playful and beautiful, but can be very cruel. Be careful about how close you are to the water. Some mermaids a might think that it would be fun to drown you!
They prefer overcast or rainy days as opposed to sunny days. They have the ability to have legs to walk on land with for a limited amount of time (this is determined by how close they are to the water or how much they have with them)
Hates: Shapeshifters, halflings and fey
Dislikes: Vampires, lycans, zombies, mages and elves
Likes: humans and fey
There are regular mermaids, who have a fish tail (regular fish tail or tentacles.), then there are the sirens, songstresses with bird-like qualities to them.
Mages
They are very composed and down-to-earth, however they get the most senile with age. They are one of the more peaceful and fun of the species. They are traditionally more nomadic than the vampires.
Hates: Vampires
Dislikes: Lycans, zombies, fey, mermaids
Likes: the rest
There are the Malicious Mages that have darker tendencies and are better at offensive spells, and there are rumors that some have made a home in the underground, putting behind their nomadic way.
Then there are Benevolent Mages, who still are nomadic but can usually be found in the wide grasslands, work towards the good of the world and are better at defensive and healing spells. That being said, both types can do both spells types, but unless they have been specifically trained in those spells for years, their skills in said spells will be lacking.
Dwarves
Living within the mountains that surround Nevicata Valley, dwarves have, since the beginning of their species, been a remote race. They tend to keep to themselves, selfishly guarding their mountain domain from non-dwarves. Dwarves are the shortest of the currently-known races, their average size being about 4'2". For special abilities, dwarves can find their way anywhere if they're in their underground lair. Sorcerers cannot enchant them. For unknown reasons, dwarves are immune to magic They are much like the ancient Greeks in that they think their race is superior to others. They, like the stone of the earth, are set in their ways and one will have a difficult time changing their minds on anything.
They are run by the dwarf king. Even so, the race isn't as powerful as they once were (however much they will deny it!) and are subject to being conquered should any of the other species desire to do so. Since they live underground and are accustomed to digging and building pathways, they are excellent builders and sculptures. A dwarven-made dwelling is one to be desired. Dwarves typically stay in their underground mountain home. You will rarely see one willingly leave. When they do leave, they freak out. People around the emerging dwarf will hear them complain about how they fear they will float off into the sky.
Hates: Elves, mermaids
Fears: vampires and lycans
Likes: Other dwarves
Halflings
Timid and down-to-earth. They are not very-well liked by the other species. Nothing much else to say about them.
Hates: Not a lot
Fears: Everyone, especially vampires and lycans
Likes: Zombies, humans and shapeshifters. They get along with the Elves best.
Halflings are pretty much like your nekos in that they have mostly human traits, but they also have animal parts such as cat ears and tail. The currently known types of half breeds are as follows: the cat people (cat ears, tail, sometimes claws/paws), the harpies (who are like the sirens, they just can't sing, bird talons as feet, they may have wings, but they tend to not have beaks.), the bunny people (bunny ears and tail usually), the fox people (ears and tail, and sometimes sharper teeth) , the mouse people (ears and tail and sometimes the front teeth), the horse people and the goat people (horse people are like centaurs in that they have the torso of a human, but the body of a horse. Same for the goat people).
Humans
Humans are the most gullible and innocent of all the creatures. They tend to cluster together, as they are social creatures. They are the most flexible of the groups, so they adapt well to change.
Hates: Vampires, zombies and lycans
Dislikes: Mermaids, halflings, and fey
Likes: Elves, shapeshifters and mages
Due to their former status as slaves, humans are treated much like the African Americans were after they were legally freed in the late 1800s. Although not a universally accepted behavior, it isn't uncommon for many supernaturals to treat humans like possessions. Even with this state of mind, however, it isn't taboo for a supernatural and a human to be in a relationship. Some may be slightly shocked if this sort of situation occurs but no one would be offended (maybe the dwarves...).
To keep the vampires from going on a bloody rampage of killing and kidnapping, the humans are required by island law to donate blood at least once a month. This works for the most part, but some humans like to sell their blood straight from the vein. This is illegal and is known as "Bloodletting."
Humans are usually not very powerful, however, there are some humans with special abilities, but these humans are very rare. Even when they do occur, their powers are not very great. So no making the earth shake or causing floods. That's the sort of things you'll see sorcerers do. Gifted mortals have abilities that tend to make life easier. It is said that they get their gifts because they have a supernatural somewhere far back in their family tree. Their powers usually are affected by what supernatural they are related to. Here's a few examples:
Fairy: They find themselves unable to lie, but they can trap people into deals that they may not of otherwise made. Or they can control some element of the earth (not able to flood or cause infernos though. The blood is diluted so it isn't nearly as powerful as what the fey could do)
Vampire: Can convince people to do things
Lycan: Heightened senses or has an animal instinct that alerts them to danger.
Sorcerer: Move things with their mind, read minds, heal...
Mermaid: Hold their breath for a really, really long time. Excellent swimmers
Basically, it is one or two traits of that race that that person receives. Some mortals may not even know they have these abilities because they are so minor.
Zombies
The most cowardly and least intelligent of the species. They tend to appear blind because of a milky film that develops over their eyes as they get older. They actually have excellent vision.
Since they are dead, their bodies will decompose through time. Because of this, it is necessary for them to replace their "parts." as needed. They are skilled diggers, so they find a nice living as gravediggers at the island's cemetery.
Being dead, they cannot have babies. If they want to keep the zombie population from dying out, they must bite someone and wait for that person to die. There is a cure for a zombie bite, but it is very difficult to come by.
Hates: No one
LOVES: Everyone
There are Zombies who have lost their minds and will eat any human or other creature that looks tasty without any other thought. They are called the Cannibals.
Then there are the nicer, more mild-mannered zombies that are called the Humanoids.
Then there is a rare type of zombie called the Super Zombie. This zombie is controlled by a dark mage. They are bigger and more powerful than your regular zombie. They are faster, but not by much.
Dragons
What people say about them:
Dragons are rare, reptilians that love shiny treasure. Not much is known about them. Indeed, there are many myths surrounding them. What is agreed on is that they breath fire, guard their hoards like a jealous spouse, and are keen on devouring young maidens for dinner.
What is actually true:
It is true that Dragons are fire breathing, rare and reptilian. It is also true that they ruthlessly guard their hoards. Here’s where it gets different.
They do not just eat young maidens. They’ll eat anybody. They might be more likely to go for the elderly since they won’t run as fast as younger people (Yes, they go for the lame and the elderly when given a choice!). They live for several thousand years, the oldest dragon known was said to have lived for 10,000 years. Since they live to be so old, many dragons have a vast span of knowledge that many adventurers have strived to discover (with varying degrees of success). Some dragons fly, some live in the water and mostly stay there. Other’s have no wings or gills or flippers.
Beware of angering dragons. They can behave much like cats where they will play with you before they eat you.
Beware of amusing dragons. They might make you part of their hoard…and then eat you.
Hates: indifferent
Dislikes: indifferent
Likes: indifferent. They just like their treasure.
NOTE ON DRAGONS: WE ONLY HAVE FOUR MORE SPOTS FOR THEM. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CREATE A DRAGON, PLEASE PM EITHER JAYLENE OR TRENT. JAYLENE WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH THE CHARACTER CREATION OUTLINE FOR DRAGONS.

Being dead, they cannot have babies. If they want to keep the zombie population from dying out, they must bite someone and wait for that person to die. There is a cure for a zombie bite, but it is very difficult to come by.
