Jaylene, having ended up being thrown to the floor anyways, slowly stood up. She didn't answer Trent at first, too shaken. Matthias really scares her.
"I'm fine." She said quietly, rubbing her bruising arm. She sat in a chair, not knowing that she did and stared at nothing for a minute, trying to beat down a surge of panic that was rising up in her throat. Then she seemed to realise that Trent might be watching her do this. She put on a brave face for him, "Still need help standing?" she asked while helping him up again.

"Say something like what?" Max asked innocently. He reached down and ruffled his brother's hair, "How else am I suppose to help my little bro out of a bar fight, hm?" he was about to "help" Trent up, but then he got distracted.
"Ethashiiiiiii looking as gorgeous as ever!" he drawled out, "Am I getting anything today? Can I have you and a Long Island?" he knew it was a bad line, but he didn't care. He always made bad come ons around her simply because of how she reacted to them.

"You can have the Long Island, but that is it." Ethashi smiled and started to mix. "So, did you look into that building towards your property that I asked you about?" She asked then looked over at Jaylene and put her and on her shoulder and got some ice for her with her other hand. "I'm sorry about that ass, he was raised better, I swear." She cooed the girl by petting her head. "I have no idea how you stay with him, but you are staying right here until you feel better, ok sweetie?"

Trent looked at his brother and smirked. "I was in no way going to be able to fight, I knew better." He then looked over at Jaylene and tilted his head. Something seemed off and he could not put his finger on it. He was going to take her offer when he heard what Ethashi said and frowned.
"Jaylene, you can be honest with me, did he hurt you too badly? Do I have to kick his royal ass when I sober up?" He smirked.

Jaylene accepted the ice greatfully. "Thanks" she said, "But I'm fine really!" she fibbed. She pressed the ice on her arm and almost sighed in pleasure as it eased the pain. The bruise was going to be nasty, she just knew it. She didn't want to let on about how much it hurt.
"He's usually sweet to me...he's just the jealous type. He's passionate," she said more out of habit than actual belief in the words. She knew the words were complete B.S., but she had to believe it. She couldn't get away from him even if she ran to the other side of the world. He'd just drag her back. She felt like one of those gangsters girlfriends in one of those old movies...
"I'm alright," she said to Trent, "He was only a little rough. I don't think it'll even bruise!" She forced a smile for him, "Do you still want to do food?" she changed the subject, not wanting him to see through her.

"I watched that boy grow up Jaylene, but good try." Ashi snickered and pat her shoulder. "How about I take you guys out to eat, it will be my treat. I get off here in an hour. Oh I know, we can go to the coast and get some seafood." She smiled. "Oh, and that is definitely going to bruise, please stop lying to your friend, only bad things can happen when you cover for a jackass."

Trent could not get the frown off his face after all of what Ethashi said. Why would Jaylene lie to him. Yes, that jerk was her boyfriend, but that is most likely what made it so hard on her. "You know, she has a point, you shouldn't cover for him, he will only keep hurting you if you do so." He laughed then looked at the empty beer bottles. "Though I do not have much room to talk."
He then heard what Ethashi had to say on where she wanted to go and smiled widely. "Oh, that sounds good! I haven't been over there in a long time. Is that ok with the two of you?" He said, now looking over at Max and Jaylene.

Jaylene didn't like that Ethashi saw right through her. This was her problem. She didn't need Trent or anyone else getting involved.
She gave a humorless laugh, "Yeah, you're probably right" She said to them both. She didn't explain how trapped she was to them.
At the suggestion to go get dinner, Jaylene finally gave a genuine smile, "Seafood sounds amazing. I've been craving that for a week! Mind if we hang here until you're off, Ashi?"
Max agreed with the suggestion for eats. "My stomach hasn't heard better sounding words!" Free food was the best two words anyone in their 20s could hear.

"Well, that settles it, we are gonna take you up on your offer." Trent smiled then laughed and looked at Jaylene. "I'm pretty sure if that if she wants to take us, she will not mind if we wait on her." Trent then looked at Max and sighed. "I'm surprised you do not get taken out more often with the other ladies."

Max settled in to drink his beverage. He gave Ashi a flirty smile before replying to his brother, "I usually take the ladies out." he sipped his drink, "I know, I know....I know what you're thinking. I'm one chivalrous dude." he chuckled to himself, "I'm too fast on the draw," he held his fingers out like they were pistols, pointed a finger at Ethashi and said "Bang!" then he pointed it at Jay and said, "Bang!" then he pointed it to Trent and said, "Hmmm...out of bullets..."
He took another sip of his drink, "So Ashi, have you heard of the opera singer the vamps are sending for? I think they want her to sing for some banquette or other." If Max wanted to know anything he knew that Ethashi would know about it. People, supernatural or not, liked to spill their guts to bartenders, "I hear she's a looker. Is she your twin?" he laughed at Jaylene's "oh stop..."

Ethashi shook her head and gave Max a thumbs down. "No offence sweetie, but you are not my type." She then got reminded about the vampire and gave a "tsk" sound. "Why would I care about a stupid vampire? I'm most likely much prettier than her though." She laughed into her hand. "But hey, you didn't tell me about the building, is it because someone already bought it?" She opened once of her eyes, trying to not seem to sad by asking the question.
"But, maybe on a more positive note, how is the drink?" She said, now opening both of her eyes.

"More's the pity" Max waved off her rejection, not hurt at all. He hit on everyone regardless of attraction. What could he say? It was fun!
"What's this? The singer is a vamp eh?" his interest was piqued. It wasn't often that the local clans invited an outside vampire to the island, even if it was for entertainment. Something about the blood supply...maybe she was related to one of the clans somehow? "Vampires tend to be beautiful, but you certainly give them a run for their money, Lady Bartender" he raised his glass to her, "Very well mixed drink. I'd get another after this one, but I need to be a good influence on your best customer," he gestured at his brother, "No offence, Trent."
When he got reminded of the building, he set his drink down and looked serious for a second, "I looked into it, but someone put a huge bid on it. Out of your price range if I understand correctly. Sorry, Sugar."

"Yeah, it is kind of strange that the shrews of vampires we know here let her in...maybe we could find a few things out on the coast later." Ethashi smiled then laughed at his comment on Trent. "Oh, hey I understand, a broken heart is hard to fix, some people turn to verbal therapy, others turn to liquid therapy." She laughed pretty loudly at her own joke, until she heard the bad news and the laughter ended as quickly as a the temper on a dog.

Max laughed, "Yeah, those vamps complain about how territorial the lycans are, but they're just as bad, I swear!" he gulped down the rest of his drink, "Ah!" he sighed. Nothing like a Long Island iced tea...well, maybe a fresh cigarette. "This still a smoking bar?" not that it would make it smell worse. He didn't wait for a response. He took out a cig, lit up and took a puff. Ahhhhh...now THAT hit the spot!
"True true. Trent could be spilling his guts out to me about his lady troubles. imagine how awkward that would be! I'd have to hug him or...get him some fast food or something." He shivered, "We would both have to go to therapy over it!" Max was borderline being a jerk and he knew it. He was poking at his brother, trying to see what he'd do. It secretly troubled Max to no end how despondent he was even two months after the incident. It had only been a few more months and his brother was still at the bottle.
When he saw Ethashi's sadness of not getting the property, he eyed her sympathetically, "I'm sorry, girlie. Other ones will pop up! You'll see!" he gave her a warm smile.

"Oh, that I know, I just wish I had as much money as these high-lifers. Where can a girl go to get a fair shot at anything." She laughed and looked over at Trent to see he was staring at the floor. "Hey um, Maxxie you may want to actually help your brother..maybe I can ask to get time off early." Ashi said as the gave Max one last Long Island and walked to the back, fanning her nose when she opened the door to talk to the boss. They thought it was bad in the actual bar, try going to the back. She swears someone died and they never got it out, for maybe 15 years.
